Athelney Cottage is a fabulous, reverse-level home nestled in the tranquil village of Athelney near North Curry, Somerset.
With a riverside position, enjoying stunning views of the surrounding countryside, Athelney Cottage offers a pet-friendly, well-positioned abode, ideal for couples and small groups.
Park up opposite the cottage and head indoors, firstly reaching a utility area, where you can store your muddy boots and wet gear.
Next door to the utility you’ll locate a sleek shower room, where you can prepare for your coming days in style, whilst a lovely king-size bedroom rests nearby, with plenty of storage, a Smart TV, and an indulgent roll-top bath.
Travel upstairs to reach the open-plan living space, complete with a large sofa bed for flexibility, a dedicated dining area, and a well-equipped kitchen, where you can prepare and enjoy delicious meals over a glass of wine.
With breath-taking, elevated views to appreciate, while the night away from the mezzanine snug, or if the weather allows, dine, and unwind upon the rear decked area, with direct access to the river; be sure to pack your water sports gear and equipment to enjoy a day on the water.
Explore the nearby village of North Curry, home to a selection of shops, eateries and pubs for delicious food and drinks after a day of walking, cycling and bird watching, or head to nearby Taunton, Somerset’s County town, where you can find an array of high-street shops, independent boutiques, restaurants, pubs, and cafes, along with Museum of Somerset, French Weir Park, and several galleries.
If you’d like to explore some more, visit Bridgwater, an ancient riverside town with a wealth of attractions including the Blake Museum and the Blake Gardens, or wildlife spot from the likes of RSPB Greylake, RSPB Swell Wood, and Millennium Wood.

Enjoying a central position between the north and south coasts of the South West peninsula, the small village of North Curry rests in Somerset, just east of the county town of Taunton. Since the 13th century, North Curry has been a market village, earning wealth from hunting, fishing and the wool trade, and it is still home to several historic buildings like the Church of St Peter and St Paul, nicknamed 'The Cathedral of the Moors', now a Grade I listed building dating from the 14th century. In the centre of the village on Queen Square you can find the Post Office and general village store where you can pick up all the essentials you need, with a pub across the way providing a perfect spot to enjoy a well-earned pint. Visit Taunton for a wider selection of shops and restaurants. Enjoy watching cricket on the village green, or at Somerset’s famous County Ground. Was lovely to walk in and see a fully decorated Xmas tree. We thought the property location was perfect 🤩 Maybe coffee/tea facilities provided downstairs near bedroom.

"Lovely cottage, very stylish décor and comfy bed, loved the bath in the bedroom!"
However when we arrived on a cold December evening it was absolutely freezing, no heating had been left on for us. Also there was nothing left to welcome us, no milk not even a teabag! Never had this happen before in 25 years plus of staying in cottages. This could be easily rectified by the owners which would make a much better first impression. Also being picky the cleaning could have been better, very dusty bedframe, dusty lampshade and rubbish left in kitchen bin, again easily remedied, lovely cottage but take care with children and dogs on surprisingly busy country road .
